Scottsdale Atelier is assembling a world class team of artists and advisors to carry out its vision and guide students to their fullest potential.

Timothy Rees

He has received awards from the Portrait Society of America, Art Renewal Center, and Oil Painters of America, and currently holds status as a Signature Member of the Portrait Society of America.

Timothy’s passion for high quality realism and clear teaching style make him an excellent Principal Instructor and Director of Scottsdale Atelier.

Timothy Rees (b. 1985) began training at the Palette and Chisel in Chicago, studying the principles of alla prima painting. After moving to Arizona and expanding his technical knowledge to encompass indirect painting, he created a classical drawing and painting program first taught at the Scottsdale Artist School, then at Rees Atelier.

Jonathan Noon

Trained on the French atelier method, Jonathan completed rigorous studies at Boston’s Academy of Realist Art.  He combines the academic-style that stresses draftsmanship with contemporary expressions of light and mark making.

Jonathan currently serves an artistic advisory role and Secondary Instructor for Scottsdale Atelier

Jonathan Noon (b. 1985) is centrally focused on figurative realism, particularly of the American West.  It is these landscapes, this period of American history which tell the stories he feels are most emblematic of who we are and from where we came.  It is also in the southwest region of the United States that he grew up and matured as an artist.

Board of Directors

The board of directors is a dynamic group of individuals working to ensure the mission of Scottsdale Atelier is carried out successfully, from engagement with the community to financial solvency. Scottsdale Atelier wouldn’t be possible without their commitment and governance.
